Gibson Custom 1958 Les Paul Standard M2M VOS - GL

In recent years, the Gibson Custom Shop has achieved unprecedented levels of quality, successfully replicating with absolute fidelity the instruments from Gibson's Golden Era that have become legendary.

Today's Historic Collection series draws from the highly regarded and sought-after True Historic series, incorporating many of the most important technical and construction details. This results in instruments that, while still priced at a premium, offer quality levels never before reached in this price range.

Specifically, the guitars are crafted entirely from ultra-selected woods, using animal glues, extremely thin nitrocellulose finishes for maximum resonance, truss rods without rubber sheathing, one-piece fingerboards, and True Historic plastic parts.

Since 2019, this already remarkable collection of technical details has been enhanced with improved fingerboard inlays, which are even more aesthetically faithful to those used in the 1950s, as well as period-correct frets: specifically, all models feature smaller frets that replicate instruments made before 1959.

Finally, a special mention goes to the electronics, which consist of the new Custom Bucker pickups, Alnico III, now offered in a non-paraffin version, and a set of Bumble Bee capacitors that are perfectly identical to the originals.

In particular, this instrument has been made as a special production with a selected top, characterized by the presence of a captivating knot on the left side, Custom "S" Bucker pickups—similar to Burstbuckers but with 10% fewer windings—and a '59 "Carmelita" neck profile, the same one found on the 1959 Les Paul Standard.
